I always thought my kids saw my writing as nothing but a bothersome hobby of mine. Let’s face it, writing books takes time, and I’m not cool enough to do it while distracted. So there are times when I’m “shhh”ing the monkeys and begging them to go outside or downstairs, especially when mommy has deadlines to meet. I was wrong. This week my kids, especially my daughter, showed me how much they “get” and support what I’m doing.
She’s told everyone, teachers, friends, her principle, strangers sitting in the stands at the football games. “My mommy’s book is coming out this week. It’s called Rory’s Choice.” Right about here she’d turn to me if I was close. “Mommy, tell them about your book.” Then she steam roll over me before I could get a word in. “I love the picture on the book. There’s this horse and a girl on it. I get to have my own copy. I’m so excited to read it…”
Who needs a PR person when I have her? I love having a “Janelle Evans groupie” living in my house.
